Last Day at the VA

Today was my last day at the VA and my last day cleaning teeth as a student. It's a bittersweet moment. I feel pretty confident about most things, but it's going to be weird working in an office under no instructor supervision. Even though I am graduating, I know that there are still things that I need to practice such as digital x-rays :( and injections. Yay for graduating and moving on and never going to school again! Boo for missing my friends and not seeing them every day!

Last Day of Clinic!!!!

Today was my last day of clinic! It really hit me that we no longer have scale checks, health history checks, etc. It was a good day in clinic. I saw two class fives and they were pretty easy. Graduation is in ten days!!!!

Winding Down

Everything is winding down and I am starting to get a little sad, just a little. I was still in need of class 3's after boards and last week at the VA I was able to clean an full mouth class 3 and today I was able to clean a half mouth of a class 3 so I am finished with quad requirements. The only thing I still need is 7 PAs. I am so excited to graduate and get a job as a hygienist, but I will feel weird not being school anymore. I am so used to getting a hhx and scale check that I will probably catch myself asking the dentist for a check. I am also going to miss my classmates. This is the last time I will ever go to school and so now I have to be a true adult. It's a sad feeling but exciting as well.

Clinical Board

I passed with a 99%!!!!!!!

March and Boards

Where has March gone?! Oh I know where, it was dedicated to BOARDS. Well, now that boards are finished, I feel pretty relaxed. I failed my first IA attempt at LA, but $120 later I got my success memo. Sunday morning clinical boards had a few scary moments but all-in-all, I feel okay about it. Today I saw a class 3 in the morning and class 4 in the afternoon and I am beat. Time to relax...

Successful Morning

This morning was finally a success. I was able to take 2 PAs on the returning patient and do four injections. Then, I screened a patient at 10 and he qualifies to be my board patient! I am so happy to have that weight lifted off of my shoulders. I took five PAs on him and I am bringing him back next week to clean a quad or two so I can know what his calculus is like. I am pretty sure it is going to be tough. I am also going to have to take a pano on him because #1 is so far back that after attempting three times to get a PA of it, I was finished. Also, he is a class 3 so that will help with my requirements as well. He seems very reliable (he called me back last night to confirm with me that he was coming) so I'm not worried about him showing up for my test. So here's to a good day and a bright future!

One Day Closer

Everyday is one day closer to graduation! I am so excited to graduate! But I need to not get too ahead of myself because I have yet to find a board's patient. I know that everything will work out but I'm still stressed about it. Hopefully I will find a patient soon so that I can rest for a few days...
